I’m pleased to announce that I will be heading up the StockViews mentorship program next year. Last year we ran a very successful trial for two students, one of whom subsequently got a job as an analyst at a hedge fund. This year we have created a more formal program and expanded the number of places to eight. I recently returned from my tour of university investment clubs in the US (discussed in my previous blog), where I found myself highly impressed by the keen interest and quality of questions. There is a huge pool of talent within these investment clubs, and with the right help I believe there are many great investors among their ranks. With sloppy practice all too common on Wall Street, my hope is that this program can help create a better class of financial professional for the next generation. Applications are now open to university graduates, or those who recently graduated. If you are interested in applying, or if you know someone who would be interested, here is what’s required:
- A research note of between 4-8 pages. The research note should include:
- A rating (Buy, Sell or Neutral) relating to the stock in question
- A summary section in no more than 200 words
- A valuation section containing some simple valuation metrics (DCF not required)
- A covering letter, explaining your reasons for applying
The program will run from February 1 to the end of June. In that time we work with the students to create 3 pieces of quality research, including valuations and price targets. The program can be completed remotely, with feedback sessions conducted over Skype. Please send your application by December 31 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Good luck to all and I look forward to receiving your applications!
